Coaching Cancer CType Sue – Part 8 – CTypes as the Source of Sue’s Problems

CTypes as the Source of Sue’s Problems – Putting “Sue” On the Wall

Introduction: In this 10-part series, we will take you through the process that a coach, counselor, leader, manager, therapist or teacher might use to assist clients, employees and peers in solving problems using CTypes. This process is called the “On the Wall” process and is outlined in detail in our CTypes for Professionals online training. This process will also be demonstrated in real time with a volunteer in our CTypes Teacher Training Certification Program November 7-9 in San Diego. In our many years of using and refining the One the Wall (OTW) process, it has proved to quickly make problems visible and offers a systematic and effective methodology for professionals to assist clients and employees in solving challenging problems and changing lives—both at work and at home. It’s a powerful process. We have turned around entire companies and many individual lives using variations of this process.

Part 8 – Ctypes as the Source of Sue’s Problems

On a new flip chart, split the paper into three sections by making a large “T” about ¼ of the way down the paper. Designate the top section:

Sue: Work – Problems = Too much Natural Cancer Thinking

Solutions = Move toward Opposite Capricorn Thinking

In the left lower section, List the answers to the question, “Where does it appear that you (Sue) may be doing too much of your Natural Cancer CType thinking?

Example: Sue Doing Too Much Cancer Thinking

  • Can’t say no
  • Constantly nurturing everyone including the boss
  • I’m feeling like a martyr
  • I feel a need to control others so we get the outcomes I want
  • I’m constantly complaining about others not doing their part
  • After all I’ve done, this is how I’m treated

In the right lower section, List the answers to the question, “What actions might I (Sue) take to move toward my Opposite Capricorn CType thinking?

Example – Sue Moving From Cancer to Capricorn CType thinking:

  • Stop complaining – Take Action
  • Have it the way I want it
  • Create a plan
  • Meet with the boss
  • Create a schedule
  • Start taking my yoga class
  • Take care of myself first

Now Identify the “hot spots” where Sue is willing to take right action by applying the 80/20 rule:

Stop complaining – Take Action

Have it the way I want it

Create a plan

Meet with the boss

Create a schedule

Start taking my yoga class

Take care of myself

In Part 9, we will use 80/20 and look at creating right action for Sue in moving from Cancer to Capricorn. If you just want to get started in using CTypes, you will want to consider our online Introduction to CType course.
